Olympia Iron sid/GX1 Miche wielen

Boasting the EXPOBICI Design Award 2014 for innovation, Iron is the new fierce model dedicated to XC. The strong character of the frame results in an all round “super racer”. The use of the Ra- ceTrim rigid fork or of the RS-1 with inverted rods by Rock Shox also makes this bike perfect for marathons. This bike immediately catches the eye with the shape of its main tubes and the marked ribbing that literally draw the entire main triangle, with the exception of the lower stays. The choice of design aimed at quality aesthetics and minimal weight, but above all maximum strength. “3D rigidity”, as its known in Olympia, because thanks to the design of its tubes, the structure offers op- timal strength on the three main planes: longitudinal, transversal and sagittal. The head tube joint and bottom bracket are important aspects, featuring a short connecting gusset, which joins the diagonal tube/ saddle tube and horizontal tube/ saddle tube. Two “fins” reflect the design, for high visual impact. Another feature worth noting is the saddle tube, which has been offset with respect to the bottom bracket, and moved slightly forward towards the head tube. This solution increases the rear space for the wheel arch and re- covers precious millimetres in the saddle position, when the seat post is raised (sized at 27.2 mm, without impact on the weight). IRON is monocoque, produced with carbon fibre T1000, M40J and T800s. Its lightweight features (just 1050 g in the S category) are achieved thanks above all to the use of T1000, with an extremely high breaking load, enabling the use of less raw ma- terials and thus lightening the fra- me without affecting resistance. The M40J fibre (used on the head tube with T800s) is unique for its extremely high specific module, 65% greater than that of the most commonly used T700.

The bottom bracket instead uses mainly the T800 fibre. IRON will also be available without the dérailleur clamp, for use with a single speed (SRAM only). The 12 mm thru-axle, PressFitTM 41×92 mm bottom bracket, cables routed inside the frame and the option also of fitting the new electronic XTR, complete the design of this bike.
